The maintenance crew at a dam site in western Canada needed to isolate a 30โ bypass line for servicing. Due to tight space constraints, they asked SAF to design a knife gate valve with dual gates for โdouble block and bleedโ purposes.
Our engineering team enjoyed this challenge and was able to flex their custom manufacturing capabilities within our Grey49 product line. The end result was an all stainless steel valve, with several custom features, and a Rotork electric actuator.
The valve was also installed at an angle to avoid concrete columns and a pedway (two valves would not have fit).
